PRELOADER FILM FESTIVAL
DYING TO SEE IT ON THE BIG SCREEN?

We have arranged with Create Studios to have the full 20 minute version of 'Afternoon of The Rat-Faced Zombies' screened in the Wyvern Theatre after the Preloader short film competition final. The ten minute version had originally gained second place in the Preloader local heat but the rules prohibit more than one film going through to the final from the same production company and, as we made the first place 'Accidentally On Purpose', we withdrew AOTRFZ.

Swindon 'Preloader' Film Festival packs 'em in!

The Swindon heat of The 'Preloader' Film Festival opened its doors on the evening of Wednesday 24th of October.  Well over 60 people of all ages streamed into Studio A of the Wyvern.  They were there to enjoy yet another diverse selection of moving images from  local film-makers.
From Rotoscoping (filming moving images and animating over them) through pop videos and including a documentary about starting a new school, the evening provided something for everyone.  I do mean everyone!  For people with a dark sense of Humour there was some unashamedly gratuitous Comedy Gore and Horror!  More on that later.

In reverse order the audience voted winnners were:

3rd Place:   'Hindsight'   (Live Action)  About a man dwellling over the consequences of his actions whilst being taken care               of  by the adult son he left as a boy.

2nd Place:  'Swindon News'   (Claymation)  A group of first time film makers show everyday life in Swindon.  Including such things as a lion escaping from the zoo, an Alien Invasion and the end of the World (I think i missed that one!).  All done using plasticine, cardboard and other assorted materials.  This piece was made by a group of adults and young people.  Great to see that kind of co-operation).

1st Place:   'Accidentally On Purpose'    (Live Action)  A hilarious, gory look at what happens when human greed and television advertising cross paths.  Directed by 12 year old Jessica Pike, this piece - not for the faint-hearted - was inspired by all those tacky insurance ads.

'AntiSocial-Films' 10 minute edit of 'Afternoon of The Rat-Faced Zombies' initially finished in second place.  However they graciously elected to relinquish this place as they were connected with the making of 'Accidentally On Purpose'.

The full cut of 'Afternoon of The Rat-Faced Zombies' short is now available on a DVD packed with extras and available to buy from www.zombie-film.com .
Everybody is invited to attend the 'Preloader' Final at The Wyvern Theatre on November the 17th at 6:45PM.

A quote from a member of the audience:
'It was evident from the many varied films on view that we have many youths/individuals who will make very good actors/directors and crew.  I look forward to seeing how they progress and develop '   Mrs P.

If you are interested in future 'Preloaders' and learning more about  the creative arts come along to Create Studios in The Jollifffe Studio above the Wyvern.  Alternatively contact Keith Phillips via www.createstudios.org.uk
